Here is a pic of the old Heat Recovery Ventilator exhasut vent, as you can see the old false ledger board had to be cut to make room for the vent. I didn’t want to bother with cutting the actual ledger board and deal with structural integrity issues. So I had to drop it down a few inches.

 

Here is the retaining wall we moved over about two feet. You can also see the location of the two piers that intruded on the old wall location. One has the tube (round concrete form) already installed.

 

Here is a photo of a post base after being hot dipped galvanized.  This should withstand the elements and the treated  lumber for far longer than the lumber will last.

 

Here’s a view of how I cut the 1/4 inch steel up that I made the post brackets out of. The Miller 625 plasma cutter makes short work of it, and with a little practice the cut is pretty nice.

 

Here we are moving the retaining wall over about 2 feet to make room for the 2 deck posts.

 

Here’s the basic design of the deck for our house. Is it big, yes, 1000+ sq ft.
At this point we were looking at composite decking.
